About My Chemical Romance & they're Genre/ Looking at album promotional shots

Production Brief

Chosen Artist & Genre
My Chemical Romance is a pop punk band who formed (with all original members) in 2001, since then they have released 4 studio album and this chosen song is from their most recent album; “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys,” an album based around a cartoon world that the lead, Gerard Way created during his 2 year break from the band where reignited his flame for comic book art and creation.

After purchasing 'Danger Days – My Chemical Romance', they're recent studio album I became really inspired especially towards a song called 'Summertime,' a song devoted around the idea of love and missing someone but still feeling a protection and care for them;- this was a subject matter that I felt a connection with; Instantly after listening to this particular song I began to imagine an artistic and emotive video that would be evoke the emotions of the song without holding and needing a story to support the narrative of the song,- this is important to an emotional song especially devoted around love.
I  want to create a media product that goes against traditional ideology of music videos, I think it would be interesting to take a creative and artist approach on this music video, the music is very thought provoking and I feel as if this should be the concentration of the music video not the images on the screen.

After the release of they're recent album ; 'Danger Days..' has seen a difference in the bands music and image, they're recent promotional images have become really colourful. The feeling of a clean slate and a new start for the band is very obvious, these promotional images have really started to inspire me toward creating a colourful music video. A lot of their new images have a cartoon inspired feel, looking at the colours and image structures.

I love the colours and the feeling of the music, it makes myself think and provoke emotions both happy and toward melancholy, I want to create a music video that emotes this idea, that makes my audience think and enjoy the music and the lyrics for what they are.
The audience for my Chemical Romance is huge, they're fan base ranges from young teenagers to adults, it's important to create a music video that allows all of this audience to relate to the music.

Looking at music videos related to the same music genre.

This is a music video from a band called 'Panic at the Disco,' this music video is a surreal take on a traditional music video and had already began my trail of thought towards my personal music video. I love all the bright colours used in this music video as well as the comedic elements of the music video. I really enjoy watching this music video and hope to create a music video my audience also enjoy watching.
Panic at the Disco have always been closely related to My Chemical Romance, they're music are related by the same genre and styling as well as sharing the same wide fan base.

This music video is from a band called 'Shiny Toy Guns,' this video again takes a surreal and artistic approach on the idea of what a music video should be. The ideas in this music video such as a lesbian kiss challenges what the audience wants to see or relates their music too, though controversial I love the idea of challenging my audience and what they want to see.
This music video has one of the main traditional elements of a music video; a band preforming, singing to the words.

After looking at both music videos;
In both of these music videos I think the genre of music are similar but they have each tackled making a music videos in a very different way, one is a controversial take trying to shock their audience and the other is a bright and fun artistic take on a music video making it a fun music video to watch. I like both elements of these music videos and by being able to create a music video that is both controversial in its styling and ideas but fun and colourful would, I think create a music video that would be really successful.

What are the main forms and conventions of these music videos studied?
